Do I need council approval for decking, pergolas, or extensions?
Many small decks/pergolas are “exempt development” if they meet height/size rules in the NSW Codes S.E.P.P.
Anything structural, high, or close to boundaries may need a CDC or DA through council.

Do you provide materials or should I supply my own?
WE At scg can supply quality timber, fixings, and hardware through trade accounts (cheaper & better quality than Bunnings retail).
Customers can also supply their own materials, but We will not won’t warranty them.
Do you guarantee your work?
licensed carpenters in NSW must provide a written warranty. For residential work over $20,000, Home Building Compensation cover (formerly Home Warranty Insurance) may also apply through the builder. Smaller jobs usually come with a workmanship warranty.
How do I maintain a new deck or pergola in Sydney weather?
Oil/seal softwood every 6–12 months.
Hardwoods (merbau, spotted gum) last longer but still need sealing.
